Everyone of
us has an opinion about something, be it the safety of nuclear power, the best
cartoon character or the need for space exploration. However, due to the
pressures of a modern society, we’re unable to put them forth like we’re
supposed to. It could be that your opinions are too radical, or that everyone’s
just too busy and you can’t find willing opponents.
We, at Instincts’
provide just the solution to all that.
At the
debate event here at SSN, no such constraints apply. Our debates mirror the
best in the land – in our own parliament. That’s where our leaders are trying
to teach the country what freedom of expression really is.There’s
plenty of competition, from all corners of the city; trending modern day topics
are picked for the debate by our panel of experts. We have an audience, which
is willing to listen to even the most bizarre of views. Finally, there are the
winnings to make the deal sweeter.
Come along;
bare your thoughts to the world! – but, remember, debate is not all about passion.
You also have to speak to impress the crowd, have a clear head to deal with the
(inevitable) times when the world seems to be against you.
Pick a
trusted friend and come to the campus at 13th March, preferably
after doing your research! – don’t worry if you don’t have a partner, there are
plenty who are looking for one.
The debates
start off with the proposition and opposition sides staking their claim for the
support of the audience. Then, the real fun begins, with both sides allowed to
take potshots at each other, in the form of another round of speeches and
direct-cross questioning! – Just remember that each speaker is allowed only
three minutes to put forth his/her point of view.
In the event
of deadlock, the Judges and the audience are invited to pose questions of their
own to the teams.
So, here’s
hoping to a round of fantastic debates, which would make our legislators put
down their chairs and take notice.
